💳 How to Reduce Credit Costs

Credit usage is dynamic: it varies with the mode you use, the complexity of your request, the length of the conversation, and the amount of project data processed. A few habits make your monthly credits last longer.

1. Match the mode to the task

The mode you choose sets the base cost of every request. See Modes.

• Agent Lite for quick questions, definitions, and small edits.
• Agent for standard editing, generation, and debugging.
• Agent Max only when a task genuinely needs the deepest reasoning.

Running a simple question in Agent Max spends more than it needs to.

2. Keep conversations focused

Every message re-reads the conversation history, so long chats cost more per reply.

• Start a new chat when you move to a new task. Ludus keeps long-term project memory, so a fresh chat does not lose what it knows about your project. See Planning, Memory & Sub-agents.
• Keep one topic per chat. Solve the character movement, then start a new chat for the HUD.

3. Prompt efficiently

• Be specific. A vague prompt leads to follow-up questions, and each round carries the full context again.
• Batch related questions into one prompt instead of several short ones.
• Let Ludus plan large tasks and review the plan, rather than issuing many small corrective prompts. See Effective Prompting.
